Ever wake up with a puffy, fuller-looking face? You're not imagining it — overnight fluid, salty food, poor sleep and dehydration can all leave your face looking swollen in the morning. The good news: a few simple steps help you de-puff fast.
Why your face puffs up overnight
While you sleep, fluid can settle in your face — especially around the eyes. Salt, alcohol, hormones and lying flat all make it more noticeable. It's temporary and completely normal.
How to de-puff in the morning
1. Go cold
Cool temperatures refresh and tighten the look of skin. A few minutes with a chilled facial ice roller (or a cool-water splash) is the fastest fix.

2. Massage it out
Using upward, outward strokes, gently massage from the center of your face toward your ears and down your neck. A facial massager makes this easier.
3. Hydrate, inside and out
Drink water and apply a lightweight moisturizer — dehydrated skin looks duller and more creased.
4. Care for the under-eyes
The eye area puffs first. A cooling eye serum patted in gently helps it look brighter and smoother.

Prevent it the night before
- Go easy on salty food and alcohol in the evening.
- Stay hydrated through the day.
- Try sleeping with your head slightly elevated.
